Kiwanis supports Sandy Huber reading program — The Tri-Cities Kiwanis Club continues its mission to support childhood literacy through the Sandy Huber Reading Program.
The program was started five years ago in memory of Huber, a longtime educator, teacher and administrator in the Grand Haven school system.
“Sandy was an inspiration to everyone she came in contact with, whether it was academic, environmental or community,” said Bill Swano, Kiwanis Past President.
The program raises money for each of the local K-4 schools.
On March 18, Kiwanis hosted a luncheon with representatives from each school districts and celebrated with the Huber family. During the meeting, each educator explained how the funding would be used to facilitate reading in their individual schools.
